2

Condition Photographs

We will need photographs taken of the machine. We may request specific angles or components to show customers exactly what they are potentially purchasing. There are some components of machines that are prone to wear, so these should be included. Taking high-quality photographs initially will be very helpful in moving the process along. Visit our Help Center to learn more about used horizontal machining center photo guidelines.

3

Floor Requirements

We need to know what your floor requirements are. Can you keep this machine on your floor until it is sold? Or do you need the machine off the floor immediately? It is very expensive to move machines, so we can save you a lot of money if we keep the machine with you until we can find a buyer who will move the machine themselves. There is also the option of consignment arrangements.

Horizontal Machine Centers have a spindle that is in a horizontal orientation. The tools will be protruding out of the side of the tool holder and it will cut the material without leaving metal chips in the way (gravity assists with this!). Instead of the chips accumulating in the way of the machine performing the cut, they will just fall off and keep the cutting area free from debris.

HMC’s are typically quieter and have a higher spindle utilization compared to VMC’s. They also produce much better surface finishes. These machines are a much better choice for shops involved in the mass production of materials. They can process more material in a shorter amount of time, although they are generally more expensive than VMC’s. You will find HMC’s under the CNC machine category.
