Used Welding Robots For Sale

quick browse
Robotic welders are programmable tools that automate the welding process. This is a fairly new way of welding in the fabrication industry, however, spot welding has been done by robots since the 1980’s. The robot works by machine vision, pre-programmed position or a combination of each of those methods.

There are several types of robotic welding processes in the machining industry.  Here are some of them listed below.

-Laser Welding:  Laser welding uses a laser generator that has a robotic cutting head.  These are best used for hard to reach welding areas or high-volume operations.

-Plasma Welding:  This type of welding is when ionized gas passes through a nozzle made of copper which produces very high temperatures.

-Arc Welding:  Arc Welding is when there is an electric arc between the metal base and electrode causing an intense heat to be produced.  The two pieces of material are then melted together. Robotic arc welding is an application of robotics that has been growing and now is around 20% of industrial robot applications

-Spot Welding:  Spot welding is a type of resistance welding where metals are joined together.

-MIG Welding (also goes by Gas Metal Arc Welding):  MIG welding is a high deposition rate process where a wire is continuously fed toward the heated weld tip.

-Resistance Welding: This type of welding is when a current is passed between two pieces of material (metal), heats up, and a pool is formed where the two pieces are joined.

-TIG Welding (also goes by Gas Tungsten Arc Welding): This is a high-quality process in which the arc is formed between a non-consumable tungsten electrode and the material (metal).

Below are some tips for owning a robotic welding machine.

  •     Keep up with maintenance-Making sure that preventative maintenance is performed is essential to owning any machine but it is especially required with robotic welding machines.  They are not exactly cheap investments, so you will want to ensure their longevity by keeping them maintained.
  • Use a trained operator-Robotic welding machines requires a skilled welding operator that is able to understand the programming as well as know how to troubleshoot.
  •       Robotic welders are versatile- These machines actually have the capability to do more than just weld.  Operators can program the machine to do various things, such as move parts that would have otherwise been idle.
