How It Works
Below is the information needed to begin the selling process. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions about the below requirements.
Initial Assessment
We must make an initial assessment of the machine. We need the following information to be able to give you the best quote possible.
Make
Model
Year
Serial Number
Tank Size (L)
Tank Size (W)
Type (Wire or Ram)- If wire, does it have auto thread?
Contact us for the exact requirements of the used EDM machine you wish to sell.
Condition Photographs
We will need photographs taken of the machine. We may request specific angles or components to show customers exactly what they are potentially purchasing. There are some components of machines that are prone to wear, so these should be included. Taking high-quality photographs initially will be very helpful in moving the process along. Visit our Help Center to learn more about used EDM machine photo guidelines.Â
Floor Requirements
We need to know what your floor requirements are. Can you keep this machine on your floor until it is sold? Or do you need the machine off the floor immediately? It is very expensive to move machines, so we can save you a lot of money if we keep the machine with you until we can find a buyer who will move the machine themselves. There is also the option of consignment arrangements.
An EDM machine is an electrical discharge machine. These machines have an electrical current that passes between an electrode and a workpiece that is separated by a dielectric fluid. That fluid acts as an electrical insulator when it becomes an electrical conductor. The sparks that discharge will erode the material to form the desired shape.
Material that is used with an EDM must be electrically conductive. It is primarily a thermal process and has the potential to alter the material being shaped due to the heat affected zones (HAZ). EDM’s are known to have a small HAZ compared to other machines. One advantage to using an EDM is that it can cut hardened materials while still providing high quality surface finishes without the need for treatment. A disadvantage to using EDM machines is that they may be slower. However, they are much more precise, dependable and less costly. You will find EDM machines under the CNC machine category.
