What does CNC mean?  CNC stands for computerized numerical control.  These machines are used to manipulate products using computer programming inputs and can work autonomously.  This means high accuracy and precision during the manufacturing process.   Another advantage to CNC machining is the money companies save by cutting the time to process materials by a significant amount. The machines can be used with a large variety of materials such as plastics, wood, glass, metals, iron, foam and much more.

What types of CNC operations are there?  There is a wide variety of CNC operations used in the manufacturing industry.  There is drilling, milling, turning, broaching, sawing, grinding, honing and lapping.  These machines can help create anything from surgical equipment, automobile frames, and engines to simple hand-held tools.

What types of software are used?  CNC machines will use either CAD (computer-aided design) software, CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) software or CAE (computer-aided engineering) software.  These programs help ensure the precision and accuracy of the part or product to be made.
