Used EDM Machines For Sale

EDM machinery works differently from anything else on your shop floor. No cutting tools, no chip load calculations, just controlled electrical sparks eroding material away with the utmost surgical precision. Thatโ€™s what makes EDM machines for sale attractive for jobs where conventional machining hits a wall: hardened tool steels, intricate cavities, features too fine or fragile for a spinning cutter. Our inventory includes wire EDM, sinker (ram) EDM, and hole drilling units from Fanuc, Sodick, Agie Charmilles, Mitsubishi, and other premium industrial brands.

EDM Applications

The three main flavors each have their niche

  • Wire EDM machinery: Uses thin, continuously fed wire cutting 2D profiles through the full thickness of the workpiece. Great for punches, dies, and tight-tolerance parts.
  • Sinker (Ram) EDM: Uses a shaped electrode to โ€œburnโ€ complex 3D cavities. Think injection mold cores or stamping dies.
  • Hole Drilling EDM: Punches precise holes in hardened or exotic materials where twist drills would wander or break.

Because EDM is a thermal process rather than a mechanical one, it can process hardened steels, carbide, and Inconel without regard to material hardness. Surface finishes are clean, often eliminating the need for secondary polishing.

Why Buy Used Equipment from Revelation Machinery

Buying EDM machinery shouldnโ€™t mean waiting around or guessing at condition. We document what matters: power supply health, tank condition, wire threading system, and control age. We respond quickly (typically within a couple of hours).

Revelation Machinery carries industrial equipment for sale beyond used EDM machines, too: CNC grinders, Haas machines, turning centers, lathes for sale, fabrication machines, and equipment auctions through Revelation Auctions.

We have reps in 15 cities and inventory from coast to coast.

FAQ

What can EDM cut that conventional machines struggle with?

Anything electrically conductive. Hardened D2, carbide inserts, Inconel, titanium: materials that would chew through end mills or require expensive CBN tooling. EDM machinery doesnโ€™t care about hardness since it avoids mechanical contact entirely. The only real limit is conductivity.

How do I evaluate the condition of a used wire EDM?

Focus on the stuff thatโ€™s expensive to fix:

  • Wire threading reliability and auto-threading system health
  • Tank seals, filtration, and dielectric condition
  • Control age and available support/parts

A clean maintenance log helps, but hands-on inspection tells you more.

Is EDM slower than milling or grinding?

Often, yes. Material removal rates are lower. But EDM can do things other processes canโ€™t, like cutting fully hardened parts or holding single-digit micron tolerances without deflection.

Shops running EDM machinery typically arenโ€™t chasing cycle time; theyโ€™re chasing precision or working with materials that leave no other option.

Do you carry used sinker EDM machines for sale and hole popper units, or just wire machines?

All three types move through our inventory. Sinker EDMs (ram style) and hole drilling units (hole poppers) show up regularly alongside wire machines. If you need a specific configuration, let us know. Weโ€™ll check current stock and keep you posted when something fits.

What if I need to sell EDM equipment Iโ€™m replacing?

We handle that too. There are a few routes, depending on how fast you need EDM machinery sold:

  • Outright purchase for quick cash
  • Consignment if you want to maximize return
  • Auction through Revelation Auctions for liquidation scenarios

Reach out with the basics (make, model, condition), and weโ€™ll get back to you with options.
