Founded in 1983, Haas Automation, Inc, is one of the world’s leading machine tool builders. Haas takes pride in creating high quality customizable CNC machines. They are based out of a single factory in Southern California where the whole machine building process is done from start to finish. Haas creates all parts that are used for its machine onsite. This means Haas machines are making Haas machines! The engineers that are assisting in the process are experienced and most have worked there for more than 5 years. They manufacture CNC lathes, CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as rotary products.
They also have engineers on site watching over the whole operation so that they may be fully accessible should there be any issues that need to be addressed. The engineers are constantly monitoring the building process and making any necessary adjustments or changes to the machines. During the building process there are quality checks that are continuously made. Each employee that is assigned to a station in the process in communicating via a tablet, any changes/issues that come about so that there is seamless communications. Each machine is assigned a serial number and this is how the changes are tracked. This gives Haas the ability to create a detailed report for every machine that is created in their factory. Once the machine is finished, it must pass several inspections before it is signed off as complete. It must pass a geometry check, too changer test, ball bar test (Check simultaneously axis motion), leak test, vibration check (Check if the spindle is running smoothly), and finally a test cut.
